2012 was a very good year for Classic Rock and or guitar heroes, especially for our forever greatest Guitarist Carlos Santana who has proved more than once that he does not need lyrics to perform eloquent music. His 22nd studio album, Shape Shifter did not reach the best or top 100 for 2012 but in my opinion should have, here in the the US reached only 16 week on the charts, perhaps France (71 weeks) or UK (49 Weeks) have better rock feeling/understanding than US, this Album shows once again a perfect blend between the spiritual and rock, among the tracks you have Macumba in Budapest where we can find a Karl Perazzo and Raul Recow with an extraordinary percussion and conga ( stream link 1.) Shape fitter shows his Indian Roots, even though this single has the name of the Album it is not his best work, Mr. Szabo on the other hand shows a Santana paying tribute to one of his Idols Gabor Szabo (Hungarian Gutarist) (stream link 2.) track 10, Canela track 12 ( stream link 3.), shows a Santana as we know him, good piano, good keyboard and good guitar al separated and an awesome rhythm. Shape Shifter is Santana’s first Album that comes out Star faith Records, you may get the feeling that this is more of light Jazz than rock, shame there is only one song with Vocal.
